Educational Objectives
The educational objectives are for students to achieve the followings:
1. Be familiar with professional knowledge related to international trade.
2. Be fluent with English and Japanese languages and capable of operating computerized applications.
3. Understand and be concerned about current industrial, economic, logistics, global and Cross-Strait trading trends.
4. Pay attention to business ethics in order to become dedicated professionals.
Characteristics of the Development
1 .The unique feature of our Department is that we have combined the resources of the original Technical School with the latest Commerce School in order to establish mutually cooperative models in between so that our students can not only learn professional knowledge from our Department, but also enhance developments in area of electronic commerce, economic and trade analyses between Taiwan and Mainland China. Furthermore, our Department can eventually cultivate the economic and trading professionals required by various local and global enterprises.
2. With our specialized educational methods such as internships with prominent firms, field trips among international commercial port offices and harbor bureaus, professional seminars, and computerized audio-video remote lecturing. We have built cooperative partnerships with leading industries, related educational organizations and government agencies. Besides regular classes, we also established academic clubs and short-term certificates programs for students to participate. It would order to elevate our academic performance, professional researches and satisfy the future human resource needs in related fields.
Curriculum
Based on our educational goals, we have divided our professional required and elective courses into four groups:
1. "Economic and Trading Analyses between Taiwan and Mainland China" related group: Practice of International Trade, Theory and Policy of International Trade, International Finance, International Currency Exchanges, International Business Management, Practice of Letter of Credit, Researches and Studies in Modern Industries, and Cross-Trait’s Economic and Trading Analyses, related certificates tests preparation, such as International Trade professionals Tests, etc.
2."Applied Languages" related group: Basic Japanese, and Business Japanese Conversation, Basic English, Conversation, Business (International Trade) English, preparation for the related certificates, such as GEPT and TOEIC Language Related Tests, etc.
3."Applied Electronic Commerce" related group: the Concept of Computer Science, the Typing Practices of English and Chinese Languages, Business Software Package Application I and II, Internet & Intranet Applications, MIS in International Trade, Automation Software Packages for Trading and Customizations, preparation for the related certificates, such as National Technician Certifications and TQC-EC (Techficiencey Quotient Certification for E-Commercial Engineer) Certificates, etc.
4."Business Operation and Management" related group: Basic Accounting, Economics, Monetary Banking, Statistics, Introduction of Business Management, Marketing, Introduction of Law, Civil Law, Business Law, Public Relations and Civility, Career Planning, and Skills for Communications & Presentations, such as National Technician Certifications for Accounting Class C skill tests, etc.
Faculty and Staff
Currently, we have one full-time professors, two full-time associate professors, five full-time assistant professors and seven full-time instructors; all have practical experiences in various related business fields. The above twenty-six devoted faculty members have complete professional educational backgrounds and all are enthusiastic and responsible teachers.
Facilities and Equipments
Our Department has the most advanced technologies with four professional classrooms/ labs, and one Departmental Library listed as follow:
1. Multi-Media Computerized Professional Classroom: Contains sixty-one complete sets of PCs connected to multi- media Internet applications, one advanced projector, one VCR, complete broadcasting systems with earphones for verbal practices, import/export trading software packages, and automation packages for customs formalities. Our Department utilizes the above technologies to reinforce lectures in computer, languages (both English and Japanese), and international trade related courses. This classroom is also certified as an official test center for evaluating computer-related techniques.
2. Automated Trading Simulation Classroom: Each of these ten partitioned work stations contains 5 seats with PCs which allow students to run internet simulated stores, conduct import/export trading software applications, customs formalities and automation practices.
3. Simulated International Trading Company and logistics Lab.: There are sixteen multi-media PCs contained advanced software applications for logistics practice. Enable students to carry out electronic commerce, role-plays and group studies simultaneously.
4. International Trade Professional Presentation Classroom: There are one advanced projector, remote audio-video speaker-stand, broadcasting systems plus chairs and bench tables. This classroom can not only be facilitated as a traditional lecturing/activity/meeting room but also can be transformed to a workshop room for professional seminars.
5. Departmental Library: We have a wide variety of books, periodicals, newspaper, electronic periodicals, CD-ROMs, cassette/tapes, and videotapes related to the areas of international trade and foreign-languages for students to borrow and review.

In order to assist the students with career planning, we have teachers who guide students all the way through the recommending university entrance examinations and the certification tests for professional techniques. Therefore, whether the graduates prefer further studies to joining the society, or choose careers rather than advanced studies; our students, who are educated under this well-facilitated vocational education system, can all benefited from our tailed-made and advanced guidance program.
