Introduction of highlights
The basics of materials technology are the methods of how to apply the materials. In the development of human history every new finding and application has brought important changes in production, social culture, and life styles. In other words, chemical engineering is the science of study of production and the manufacture of the materials; therefore, chemicals and materials are both strongly related and are complementary sciences.
Our department has joined the economical development with the government, promoted the upgrade of industry, and elevated country’s competitiveness. Our department has also focused on the development of material technology, industrial safety, and environmental protection in order to educate the outstanding engineers to participate the constructions of our nation.
To expand the high school (or equivalent) education, our department has provided the excellent environment for study, reinforced on both theoretical and practical skills, focused on the experiments and practical researches elevated the capability for analyzing and problem solving. Further, to encourage students to obtain the professional and technician certifications.

Goals
TSINT has promoted a program that encourages students to have 1 graduation certificate, gain 2 languages, obtain 3 awards, and own 4 professional certifications. Our department has joined the center of general education to promote the English ability, and to build up the capability of competition. To reinforce the importance of “ideas of innovation”, our department has encouraged students to participate in the national innovation competitions and apply for the national patents. Besides, we also pay attention to our students, ethical educations, and teach them to honor their teachers, respect their teachings, in order to reach the excellence in both conduct and academy as well. At the same time, every department has set a goal for the students; they could obtain a national professional certificate in each grade during their study years at TSINT and further to implement the professional skills for their future preparation.

Faculty and fields
Our department has 4 faculty members, including 1 professor, and 3 associate professors. They are all professionals and have doctorates. Except the daily teaching, they also focus on their researches. The special fields include manufacture of semiconductors, bioengineering, thin layer separation, thermodynamics, phase equilibrium, process control, catalytic engineering, polymers, electrochemistry, environmental chemistry and waste management.
Our classes have included general educations, professional required and elective courses. The general courses are languages, managements, social sciences, psychologies, liberty arts, and etc. The professional requirements have taught the basic knowledge, such as transporting phenomena, thermodynamics, instrumental analysis and etc. The professional elective courses can be divided into three groups, such as chemical process, materials science, environmental safety. The chemical process has involved the practical applications of manufacturing, controlling, separations, and energies. The knowledge of materials science has included polymers, organoelectronics, ceramics, semiconductors and so on. The environmental safety has involved the waste management, radiation safety, chemical processes safety, environmental toxics and other relates. Students can select any topics based on their own interests.
Our department has built up the advanced laboratories for students; it covers the fields of general chemistry, organic chemistry, unit operation, analytical chemistry, processes control, chemical engineering, environmental safety, and biological techniques. Besides, there is also a computerizing audio-visual classroom which is equipped with LCD projectors, digital video-recorders, a television, and so on.

Advanced education and employment
All our needs for living are fully related to chemical and materials engineering; therefore, our field is colorful and has a bright future. For these types of advanced education, students have lots of choices to take the leading opportunities in the following fields, such as chemical engineering, materials science, environmental engineering, polymer, biotechnology, applied chemistry, and etc. For immediate employment, students can have a variety of choices in chemical, medical, materials, and environmental fields. Most of all, the first job from chemical and materials engineering graduates usually have the highest competitive salary among all majors; therefore, to choose and study in our department at TSINT is your most important step to success.

Future
Materials science, environmental safety, and industry safety are the most important topics in 21st century; therefore, our department has focused on the teaching of the above subjects. Also, we put emphasize on the new materials development and environmental protection in the research area.
