Personnel Office

Introduction
The Personnel Office is responsible for dealing with personnel matters in the Institute of Technology. The Personnel Office deals with all matters of personnel management for some 500 staff employed in the institutions of the Institute of Technology. A major responsibility is ensuring the Institute of Technology meets its social and legal responsibilities towards its employees with regards to terms and conditions of employment, quality of working life, the promotion of a healthy and safe working environment and systems of work, and equal opportunities for all.

Missions
1. The development and implementation of human resource strategies and the provision of the advice and the support needed to enable Departments to integrate the strategic management of people within their organizational aims and objectives.
2. The formulation and development of personnel policies and procedures, codes of good practice, comprehensive guidance notes, rules and regulations.
3. The provision of specialist advice on employment legislation, contracts of employment, work permits, discipline, grievance, redundancy, retirement, and insurance.
4. The preparation and production of contracts of employment.
5. The preparation of a comprehensive program of training and development for all staff.
6. Pay, grading and establishments, as well as provision of support and advice to Departments on recruitment, selection and promotion.
7. Appraisal, leave of absence, substitutes teaching and temporary employment.
8. The provision of a confidential welfare service.
9. Management information.


Organization
A. Director of Personnel Office:
The Director of Personnel Office is responsible for the management of personnel function of the Institute of Technology, covering all categories of staff.
B. Personnel Staff 1:
1. Related affairs of teachers' employment.
2. Teachers' appraisal and examination committee.
3. Issuing the letter of appointment to full-time and part-time teachers.
4. Issuing the letter of consent to teachers' secondary teaching job.
5. To verify teachers' qualification and inform Education.
6. Managing personnel database.
7. Issuing personnel related papers.
8. Preparing statistical report.
C. Personnel Staff 2:
1. Labor Insurance.
2. Community Healthcare.
3. Insurance.
4. Retirement, comfort and compensation.
5. Service reward.
6. Teachers' complaint arbitration committee.
7. Board of conciliation and arbitration.
8. New employees' reception and affair instruction.
9. Government Employees' and School Staffs' Insurance.
10. Community Healthcare Insurance.
11. Editing personnel handbook and address book.
