Since I became the Chairman of the Board of Taipei City University of Science and Technology, I have espoused Mencius' admonition: "We should not abash the heaven above us or shame the ground beneath us."　I have been whole-heartedly devoted to education, just as I have been in almost 40 years as the "voice of the people" in my position as legislator. I have used all my energy and wisdom to work for the welfare of the people, society, and nation, so I have neither complaints nor regrets.

     To meet the challenges of the forthcoming economic era of knowledge, Taipei City University of Science and Technology aims to cultivate students of virtue and expertise.  In order to contribute to the economic development of Taiwan, I have put tremendous resources into the university to elevate the quality of its faculty, library, equipment, and campus construction.

     I take it as my lifelong aim to improve the teaching environment at TPCU, to establish more academic communications internationally, and to advocate the spirit of vocational education. All of my efforts are meant to provide students with essential professional skills so that they are able to find employment upon graduation.

     TPCU has a history more than 50 years, and there are more than 80,000 graduates working in every field of the nation. They fulfill their duties as professionals and display good examples of civility. TPCU is extremely proud of the success of the alumni.  TPCU is a university of profound heritage. It is broad in scope and renowned in reputation.

     I sincerely hope that under the leadership of the president, all the faculty and the administrative staff of the school, with their expertise and perseverance, can strive for excellence, rise to challenges, and create a promising future of TPCU.
